NEXT SHIPMENT

Excitement builds on the farm as we recieve our second shipment of trees, plants and shrubs from Burgess. Included are Colorado Blue Spruce for the driveway (you can see the branches in one of the pictures, some lovely freebies (the Cantaloupe and Tomato) and my personal favorite three weeping cherry trees! Oh people! Feeling the spring over here.

Sunsets on the farm are always brilliant - this one in particular. The layes and colors coming through man oh man!! Amazing - these pictures do not do justice but wanted to share them just the same. All our best.

Bread # 3

Bread Attempt #3 - not as many pictures, I was on a schedule and had to get the bread in and out of the oven before I left for work. It all went great timewise, until I realized I forgot to allow cool time and to take pictures. Made it in time though and got these couple of shots of the starter with some ingredients and the bread just in the oven.

HQ GETS A GROWN UP DESK

As you can see, Randy and Jimmy carried in a rather large desk. The story goes Randy found this desk at Office Depot, while taking Marcus to Office Depot so he could get a new desk. This one fit every specification I had ever wished for and Randy got it for $100! Then it turns out part of it was missing when he got home and we returned the boxes for an assembled desk. You should have seen the Office Depot guys trying to get it in the truck. It looked like they might pass out and had to call another guy out to help. Then we get it home, Randy and Jimmy bring it in no troubles!! Hilarious. We grew em strong round here. Also note that Jimmy has MOST EXCELLENT lifting position! He must be practicing? That is a picture of proper body mechanics! Thanks Jimmy. It has been a real pleasure getting everything organized and having a filing cabinent that pulls all the way out. It's the little things, ya know? All our best from PFF HQ

Spring Flowers are Here!

Loving that sunshine at the farm! Gus is too. These are the Easter flowers. So happy to see their little bright faces coming out. Hope many flowers are coming up where you are ...

DAY LILLIES!

Last year a former massage instructor of mine gave me a whole tarp full of day lily bulbs. I had meant to plant them and meant to plant them and it never got done last year. So before our very eyes the day lillies rooted through the tarp and started growing again! They are so awesome and hardy. Making it work where they were! Randy and I planted them by the red barn directly by the house and hope they spread like wildfire! As you can tell from my exclamations that I am most excited about these little things happening. Baby steps. What a blessing this kid is, really helping us to move it along and get our stuff together. Thanks Baby G! Wait til you see these flowers!! Deb Hall says they are brilliant. Thanks Deb!

Now there will be light!

Baby Room and Beyond! Projects Projects Projects abound at People Food Farms. Randy has installed three new light fixtures, in the hall, by the front door and in the baby's room! He also started painting the baby's room. This new no-VOC paint is amazing. We still opened the windows, but no smell...amazing! Randy and I discussed "if they can do this why are all paints not just like this?"
Again it's amazing how little things can really brighten up your home and make you feel accomplished. Sending out great getting it done energy to you all.

The Set

Sunsets are the best. Love spring colors and, of course, the lovely spring temperatures.

Monday, March 22, 2010

Another gorgeous day on the farm. Took the dogs and myself for a walk. Wanted to post some pics of this day, cause the dogs were going nuts running around. They were so cute, it's like they had never been outside before. I can appreciate that feeling come spring time! We all seem to get a little cabin fever.

They're Baaaack!

One true farm fact we are learning is the the turkey vultures love the barn and old silo. Last year they roosted there, had a family and came back again this year as I am sure they have for years. Keeping the farm clean of carcasses. We saw five today, though I only have pictures of this one perching a top the silo.
They seem gross, because they vomit and poo on things and it is putrid. They do eat dead things so their stomach acid is said to burn your skin if they chose to vomit on you. Luckily we avoid that! Anyway they are just a neat bird here on the farm.

Spring Flowers are AComin'

Here are some pictures I took yesterday of the Easter flowers coming up! Ooooooh I just love it. We, here at the farm, are feeling the effects of Spring Fever! Randy wants to stay home from work and do projects, Nan and Chum are full of energy lately running around like crazy and finding EVERY mudhole on the farm. I want to just roll in the new grass (maybe when it's drier outside) - all over we are feeling the effects. Also, these flowers are also very symbolic for me, because Randy and I are expecting our first child in May - May flowers eh? I love thinking about how these little green shoots poked out of the soil and are about to really bloom! Looking forward to introducing our baby to the wonderful world and all its flowers!

BREAD ATTEMPT #2

Bread Attempt #2. Had fun doing it, as you can see from my pictures. Hard to take pictures of yourself that look right. hahaha! Getting ready to make some more bread in a few days! If you have not tried it, please let me know, I have loaves, people, I have loaves. Applesauce or oil?

RAN THE MAN!

Lots of projects going on at the People Food Farms. Of course, garden planning, seed plantings and fixing things up! It is such a great spring so far and the energy is just abounding here on the farm. Here are some pictures of Randy putting some trim on the windows in the baby's room. Since we moved in there have been so many little, medium and big projects. It's fun to see one little thing done that is really so big! We are having a blast getting ready for the baby over here.
