STORM

Here are three pics of the storm coming in, hitting and then moving out. All in the span of about fifteen minutes - half an hour. Amazing weather patterns in spring! Love that smell too =)

Outside Chores

Ran and I have been enjoying getting some time outside to get things in order for the growing season. This is our first year planting a garden at the farm. Randy decided to mow down to the dirt and kill the grass, then put some lovely compost on top of it.
So here are the first shots of the garden. scalped! Also some shots of Ran mowing, looking serious, and picking up some sticks - I said at eight months pregnant that is the LAST thing I want to do (other than sit ups) so I just took pictures. Lovely day to change your own world.

Dog Days of Spring

Chum, Nan and I enjoyed some time outside right before a storm moved in. Classic spring weather though - rained like cats and dogs for about fifteen (?) minutes and soon moved past revealing some more sunshine! I love spring! Also pictured are the awesome carpet of violets that have graced our presence at the farm. One of my favorite quotes revolves around the violet.
"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heal that has crushed it." -Mark Twain

The Treasures just keep a comin'

Mary T. Sinnett, a "NEIGHB" from St. Louis, Missouri brought her most excellent energy (along with some all natural root beer and goodies to make veggie tacos!) out to the farm demanding to help with a project.
She took Randy up on his threat to pull up the carpet in the dining room.
Mind you, this was not as easy task, dear friends, the dining room has been the "piling room" since our total house re-commitment transition started a few months ago. I'm trying to say we had LOTS OF STUFF!! from piles of records that go to Goodwill, plant prep materials, knick knackery that has no home, lots of goodies from rearranging the kitchen, and other random "hoarder"y type stuff. All of this was re-piled and moved to either it's final resting place or it's next stage of evolution at the farm. So after about a half hour of moving "stuff" - we started pulling up the carpet. Randy and Mary are pointing at the beautiful vintage linoleum we found underneath the carpet, along with some really nice looking hardwood floors. WOWZER - picture is a thousand words. CHECK IT OUT!! What a magical thing to be under that stinky old carpet! Peace out carpet! It is currently waiting on the porch to cover our garden and kill all the grass!!!

Looks like someone might miss the carpet? Sorry Chum

PEAR TREE UPDATE #1

Before we moved to the farm, we often came to visit and even recovered from our tremendously heartbreaking 2008 Marbles defeat in the midst of this loving energy that is the family farm. Even back then we marveled at the beautiful pear tree, so naturally when we moved in were excited to see it flower and fruit! So last year being our first spring we loved watching the pear tree grow it's little fruit and anxiously waiting the day we could eat them straight off the tree!! Alas last year mysteriously all the fruit disapeared. I could appreciate some on the ground, maybe the birds and other animals getting a few but they were....gone! Not a pear on the whole tree and no sign of them on the ground?!?! What was happening? Just one of those random farm happenings. So this year - who knows? I am keeping a closer eye on them and also able to document it as well. =) PEAR UPDATE #1

FULL MOON PICS

Forgot to post these the last go around. Trying out flash vs no flash, while capturing the moon! So beautiful and powerful!

Flowering Trees

Here are some pictures of the beautiful flowering trees behind the farm house. Going out in the morning to see five lovely flowering trees is just magical. YEA SPRING!
